Tellus Astronomer David Dundee will host this special day at Tellus Science Museum as an estimated 22 million Americans will be impacted by the total solar eclipse. WSB TV Chief Meterologist Glenn Burns will broadcast images of the total eclipse back to Tellus from an undisclosed viewing location near the path of totality. Tellus’ observatory will be open (weather permitting) from 1-4 PM for the partial eclipse observing with several small telescopes. Inside the museum visitors can safely view the eclipse projected in the Tellus Theater. Locally, guests will experience a 97% eclipse of the sun at approximately 2:35 PM. Solar safe glasses may be purchased at Tellus Science Museum – the sun can damage your eyes anytime, but especially during an eclipse.
