Cartersville, GA, is a unique city rich in Native American and Civil War history. The city lies only about one hour north of Atlanta, but it offers a distinctive retreat from the city with a wealth of outdoor recreation, Smithsonian Affiliate Museums, theatres, art galleries and the new LakePoint Sports Community and Terminus Wake Park. Cartersville was originally founded as a gold mining town by the name of Birmingham, but the community later renamed the city after planter and entrepreneur, Col. Farrish Carter.
Cartersville is the county seat of Bartow County, and the city remains a prominent mining community as well as a hub for manufacturing with major companies including Toyo Tire North America, Anheuser-Busch, Shaw Industries, Komatsu, and Vostelpine. Tourism is also a strong component of the local economy, as the outdoor recreation, historic downtown square, and eclectic shops and restaurants draw thousands of visitors each year. Corporate and leisure guests from across the globe appreciate the luxurious amenities found at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, and Cartersville’s easy access by air and interstate.
